Ellis Island is the symbol of American immigration and the immigrant experience, my granfather, was part of the Bessarabia Germans ethnic group and part of the Black Sea German group, who lived in Bessarabia (today part of Moldova and Ukraine) between 1814 and 1940. Recorded at immigrating to American through Ellis Island at 23 years of age and as a non-fictional account of our German diaspora moving throughout Europe then to America.
